The Clásica Otero, in its eighth edition, will honor the careers of renowned former cyclists Dori Ruano and Peio Ruiz Cabestany. The event is scheduled for September 19 and 20, with routes starting from Madrid and Villanueva del Pardillo.
Dori Ruano, a world track champion in 1998 and a medalist on other occasions, and Peio Ruiz Cabestany, who achieved 23 professional victories including stages in the Tour and La Vuelta, will receive this recognition.
In addition to the cyclists, the organization will also honor lawyer Antonio Lucio, a professor of sustainable mobility and urban strategies, and a significant figure in Olympic bids and the Spanish Olympic Committee.
The first day, Saturday, September 19, will feature a 25-kilometer route through the center of Madrid, promoting bicycle use as part of European Mobility Week. The ride will depart from Puerta del Sol and traverse the capital's emblematic streets.
On Sunday, September 20, the second stage will take place, starting and finishing in Villanueva del Pardillo. This circular route of approximately 100 kilometers will include the climb to the Cruz Verde pass and will go through municipalities such as Navalagamella, offering views of the Sierra de Guadarrama.
The route is designed for gravel or road bikes, both modern and classic, and will travel along quiet roads, through holm oak pastures, and historical areas like the Civil War bunkers. The event will conclude with post-ride activities, including a concert, a popular paella, and a classic market.
In previous editions, the Clásica Otero has paid tribute to prominent cycling figures such as Ángel Arroyo, José Manuel Moreno, Marino Lejarreta, and Miguel Induráin, among others.
