Since late May and early June, staff assigned to this judicial headquarters, which houses various courts, have been facing unbearable heat that violates health and safety regulations for workplaces, which establish a maximum of 27 degrees Celsius for sedentary work according to Royal Decree 486/1997.
CSIF Justicia Madrid has communicated the incident to the Maintenance Service for Judicial Headquarters, the Prevention Service of Justice of the Community of Madrid, and the Deanery of the Courts of Madrid. The union emphasizes that this problem is not an isolated incident but recurs every summer in different judicial offices across the capital.
The union organization has been repeatedly denouncing this situation, including in the most recent Health and Safety Committee meeting, informing the competent authorities of the lack of effective action. Despite initial reports from affected staff and the union itself, no measures have been taken, and the maintenance service has limited itself to noting the incident without proceeding to its resolution.
This inaction leads to the persistence of the problem and the risk of the situation worsening in the coming weeks, coinciding with the thermal ascent typical of early summer, when temperatures could reach their peak in July and August.
CSIF Justicia Madrid has confirmed that the air conditioning system is deactivated, warning of the serious consequences for workers' health and the negative impact on working conditions and the provision of public service. This situation affects all floors of the building, from the ground to the fourth.
The air conditioning system only functions in some specific rooms, such as certain courtrooms and offices. Given this scenario, which 'cannot continue any longer', CSIF demands the immediate adoption of corrective measures and calls for the restoration of the air conditioning system as soon as possible to guarantee dignified and safe working conditions.
