This funding is intended to cover the call for aid which, in the current academic year, has benefited 146,000 students, representing an increase of almost 20,000 beneficiaries compared to the previous period.
Of the total, 68 million euros will be contributed by the regional government. To this amount, 7.4 million euros from the Madrid City Council, through an agreement, will be added to supplement the scholarships for families in the capital identified as particularly vulnerable by municipal social services.
School lunch scholarships are aimed at students in Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, and Compulsory Secondary Education enrolled in publicly funded centers in the region. Requirements include that the family's per capita income does not exceed 8,400 euros annually.
Beneficiaries of the Minimum Insertion Income (RMI) or the Minimum Vital Income (IMV) originating from the RMI are also included, who for the second consecutive year will receive full aid at no cost. Other eligible groups include victims of violence against women or terrorism, students in foster care or residential care, beneficiaries of international protection, those affected by the war in Ukraine, or those officially enrolled in publicly funded centers using school transport.
Additionally, members of the Armed Forces stationed in the region with children enrolled in publicly funded schools, as well as agents of the State Security Forces and Corps stationed in the Community of Madrid, can access these aids. Large families with a family per capita income between 8,400 and 10,000 euros can also apply for aid equivalent to 30% of the cost of the dining service.
The deadline for submitting applications will open after the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of the Community of Madrid (BOCM). Procedures can be carried out through the institutional website www.comunidad.madrid, the Digital Account, official registries, and public and subsidized schools in the region.
To simplify the process, applicants must submit a request with their basic data and express authorization for the regional administration to verify the required information. The document must be signed by all adults included in the application. Those who received the scholarship in the 2025/26 academic year may extend it for the next year, provided they meet the requirements and submit a responsible declaration certifying the maintenance of their situation.
