The Community of Madrid has convened researchers, healthcare professionals, and ALS patients at the Enfermera Isabel Zendal Hospital to foster the development of technological solutions aimed at improving their autonomy and well-being.
The event, titled “Present and Future of Technology in ALS Care,” was inaugurated by the regional Minister of Health and organized in collaboration with the Fenin Foundation, adELA, and the Polytechnic University of Madrid. The primary goal is to create innovative tools that optimize communication and the quality of life for those affected by this disease.
During the session, the importance of technology in ALS care was highlighted. Mention was made of the recent incorporation of a state-of-the-art robotic exoskeleton at the Specialized Day Center for ALS Patients (CEADELA), which has been joined by a new robot designed for the upper limb. These tools aim to offer more personalized therapies adapted to the individual needs of each patient.
The implementation of these technological advancements not only contributes to improving patients' motor function but also opens new avenues for research into functional outcomes and their overall quality of life. The initiative underscores the commitment of institutions to the well-being of individuals suffering from this complex disease.
