The Community of Madrid has announced the opening of the application period for school canteen grants for the 2026/27 academic year, with an investment of 75.4 million euros to support families.

Starting Wednesday, April 29, interested families can submit their applications for school canteen aid, as published in the Official Gazette of the Community of Madrid (BOCM). The application period will run until May 28.
These grants can be processed through the institutional portal comunidad.madrid, the Digital Account, official registries, or directly at publicly funded schools. To streamline the process, express permission will be required for the regional administration to verify the necessary information.
In the current academic year, these grants have benefited 146,000 students, representing an increase of nearly 20,000 beneficiaries compared to the previous year. Current beneficiaries may extend their aid for the next academic year if they meet the requirements and submit a responsible declaration.
The Digital Account has been enhanced with a smart form that adapts to each case, requesting only relevant documentation and avoiding common errors. Additionally, electronic signature has been implemented, including third-party signatures via SMS, allowing the entire process to be completed online.
The canteen grants are intended for students in Early Childhood Education, Primary, and Compulsory Secondary Education at publicly funded centers, whose families have an annual per capita income below 8,400 euros. Also included are recipients of the Minimum Insertion Income (RMI) or the Minimum Vital Income (IMV), victims of gender violence or terrorism, students in foster care or residential care, beneficiaries of international protection, those affected by the war in Ukraine, and those officially enrolled in publicly funded centers who use school transport.
Furthermore, members of the Armed Forces and agents of the State Security Forces stationed in the Community of Madrid with children enrolled in publicly funded schools are also eligible. Large families with a per capita income between 8,400 and 10,000 euros will receive aid equivalent to 30% of the canteen service cost.
