The Community of Madrid has opened the call for the Towns with Life Awards, an initiative designed to recognize projects that foster local development in municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants, with submissions open until June 4.

These awards, promoted by the Ministry of the Presidency, Justice and Local Administration, seek to highlight actions that contribute to social cohesion, cultural revitalization, and the improvement of quality of life in the region's smaller towns.
The competition is structured into two main categories: a public one, aimed at city councils, local entities, and public bodies; and a private one, open to individuals, freelancers, companies, associations, and non-profit organizations. Both categories include various thematic areas.
In the public category, areas include cultural activity, promotion of youth participation, preservation of tradition and innovation, and economic transformation. The private category, meanwhile, covers areas for young people (between 18 and 30 years old), families, tourism initiatives, and innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic development.
The full terms and conditions for the Towns with Life Awards are available for consultation in the Official Gazette of the Community of Madrid. The deadline for submitting applications is June 4.
The winning projects will be announced at an event scheduled for the end of the year at the Real Casa de Correos, headquarters of the regional Government. Each recognition will include a commemorative statuette and a basket of regional products, thus highlighting the regional Executive's commitment to the sustainable development of its smallest municipalities.
