The Community of Madrid has approved an investment exceeding one million euros to sponsor the eighth edition of the Mad Cool festival, scheduled from July 8 to 11 in the Villaverde district, aiming to consolidate the region as an international cultural and tourist hub.

The Governing Council has greenlit this significant contribution of 1,089,000 euros, part of the regional executive's strategy to attract visitors from around the world and position the region in the global circuit of major cultural events. Despite the investment, the festival faces potential conflicts due to concerns about noise, mobility, and security in the nearby residential areas of Colonia Marconi and Getafe Norte.
Thanks to this collaboration, the Regional Government will have a prominent presence at the festival grounds. A dedicated space for tourism promotion will be established, or a digital activation will be carried out on Mad Sound, featuring videos supporting emerging talent filmed in various Madrid locations.
The initiative also includes a social media campaign, both before and after the event, designed to promote Madrid's main tourist attractions among national and international audiences. This ninth edition in the region is expected to attract over 240,000 people, with 25% coming from other countries.
The festival, recognized by the British magazine New Musical Express as the European event with the best lineup, will bring together prominent groups and artists. In 2025, the event generated an economic impact exceeding 36 million euros in the Community of Madrid and contributed to the creation of 4,832 jobs. The 162,000 attendees registered that year, with 25% being international, spent a total of 12.6 million euros.
