These actions, focused on adapting the venue, seek to reinforce security and refurbish various areas before the start of the important bullfighting event. The initiative by the Ministry of Environment, Agriculture, and Interior is based on periodic and thorough technical inspections carried out on the building, which is declared a Cultural Heritage Site (BIC) and is the third most frequented meeting point in the capital, after the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium and the Riyadh Air Metropolitano.
The regional government has emphasized that the purpose is to ensure the facilities are in optimal condition for the most significant bullfighting event of the year. It also highlighted that these interventions allow for anticipating potential risks and planning preventive actions before the season commences.
In recent months, efforts have concentrated on structural safety, material conservation, and the improvement of key infrastructure areas. Completed actions include the partial replacement of paving on the access stairs to the lower and upper tier galleries, a work executed while respecting the traditional elements of the venue.
Concurrently, other tasks are nearing completion, such as the renovation of walls and ceilings in the upper tier galleries, structural sanitation of walls, reinforcement of constructive elements, and the reconfiguration of the slaughterhouse along with its accesses.
In addition to this refurbishment, the Community of Madrid has approved a broader plan for the comprehensive reform and modernization of Las Ventas, with a projected investment of over 40 million euros, in anticipation of the centenary celebration of the Monumental de Las Ventas in 2031.
