The Community of Madrid concluded 2025 with over 75,000 bone marrow donors, surpassing the annual target set by the National Bone Marrow Plan by 2%, largely due to the inclusion of young people.

This significant increase is primarily attributed to the participation of young individuals, who are considered the most suitable profile for this type of donation. Furthermore, so far in 2026, the region has already added 1,632 new donors to the registry, representing 42% of the forecasts for the entire year.
According to a statement from the regional government, the Community of Madrid Transfusion Center registered 4,719 new donors last year. Of these, 1,404 registered directly at Madrid hospitals, while another 688 did so through the DaMO Virtual Plan, an initiative aimed at recruiting donors from regular blood donors, a group already highly aware of the importance of donation.
The campaign known as the Bone Marrow Tour has also contributed significantly to these results, adding 1,700 new registrations. This initiative has been carried out in universities, companies, educational centers, and units of the State Security Forces and Corps, thereby expanding the reach of donor recruitment efforts.
