The Community of Madrid has voiced concerns regarding the management of the extraordinary migrant regularization process, stating it is causing the collapse of municipal services in various local councils.

The regional Government has criticized the “lack of foresight” from the central Executive in this measure, whose effects are already being felt in municipalities across Spain, regardless of their political alignment. These statements were made during a visit to the construction site of a new Citizen Service Office.

"The central Government's lack of foresight in the migrant regularization process is creating genuine chaos."

The Community of Madrid has emphasized that this process is generating cascading management problems and placing significant pressure on local administrations, which are responsible for processing applications related to this measure.
The criticism focuses on the absence of adequate planning by the central Government, which, according to the Madrid Executive, has activated regularization without anticipating its practical consequences or providing municipalities with the necessary tools to absorb the increase in applications. This deficiency is leading to a collapse of services, affecting both migrants and other citizens who rely on these public resources.
The Madrid Government maintains its opposition to this “massive” regularization, arguing that it is not the appropriate approach to immigration in Spain. Instead, it advocates for a model based on order and employment linkage. It is highlighted that the issue is not merely ideological but has a direct impact on the daily functioning of public services, with accumulated procedures and saturation in municipal offices.
The administrative impact of the measure extends to areas such as registration and document issuance, which are experiencing delays. The Community of Madrid believes that the central Government should have better coordinated this initiative with local administrations before its implementation.
