The Community of Madrid has approved an investment of 67.3 million euros for the 2026/27 academic year in grants for the first cycle of Early Childhood Education, benefiting approximately 34,000 children up to 3 years old enrolled in private centers.

The Governing Council has greenlit the funding for this call, which will open for applications soon after its publication in the regional Official Gazette. These grants are aimed at children born, or expected to be born, before January 1, 2027, who are enrolled or have a reserved place for the 2026/27 academic year in an authorized private center.
The grant amounts will range between 1,947 and 3,113 euros annually, depending on the family's income. The scoring of applications will award 7 points to families where both parents work full-time, or in single-parent households under the same circumstances, or if one parent works full-time and the other has a duly accredited permanent incapacity preventing them from caring for the child. If the work activity is part-time, it will be valued at 5 points.
Additionally, large families and parents or children with disabilities will be considered. The regional Government will also provide greater access for victims of violence against women. Exceptionally, children over 3 years old who need to remain in the first cycle of Early Childhood Education for an additional year due to special educational needs, accredited by the Early Care Team, may also apply for these grants.
Grants awarded in the 2025/26 academic year may be extended if beneficiaries apply and continue to meet the eligibility requirements. The Community of Madrid has maintained free schooling in the first stage of Early Childhood Education across its network of public centers since 2019. With this call, the aim is to strengthen families' freedom of choice, work-life balance, and promote equal opportunities, which are fundamental pillars of Madrid's educational system.
