This initiative, promoted by the Culture, Tourism and Sports Area, seeks to bring the creative processes of artists exhibiting at the center closer to a specialized audience. The workshops will cover disciplines such as photography, sculpture, and art in general, offering a unique opportunity for experimentation and learning.
The program will kick off on April 24 and 25 with María Oriza, whose work Espacio liminal is currently part of the Epicentro cycle. Her workshop, titled 'The Model as a Tool for Sculptural Thought,' will explore the potential of models as a medium for developing ideas and sculptural projects.
Following this initial event, José Quintanilla will lead the 'Expanded Photography' workshop on June 19 and 20. Later, Avelino Sala will direct 'The Series and Repetition in Artistic Practice' on September 18 and 19. All workshops will span two days, Friday and Saturday, and will have a registration fee of 30 euros.
With this program, CentroCentro reinforces its commitment to promoting contemporary creation and fostering spaces for collaboration and learning within Madrid's art scene.
María Oriza, born in Aranda de Duero in 1964 and based in Madrid, is known for her strong technical foundation and her exploration of three-dimensional perception and the relationship between volume and surface. Her work, which integrates geometry and modular development, is part of international collections such as those of the Design Museum of Barcelona, the Nakatomi Museum of Contemporary Art in Japan, and the Hetjens Museum in Düsseldorf. In 2007, she was appointed a member of the International Academy of Ceramics.
