An environmental platform has launched a campaign against the new Hunting Law in the Community of Madrid, arguing that the regulation allocates a vast portion of the territory to hunters.

The Madrid Ecologist Platform, in collaboration with the groups Empatía and No a la Caza, has initiated the «Madrid sin Caza» (Madrid without Hunting) campaign. This initiative aims to raise awareness about what they consider the abuses contained in the new Hunting Law, currently being processed in the Community of Madrid.
According to the campaign organizers, the draft law approved by the Government of the Community of Madrid would allocate 70% of the Madrid territory to hunting activities throughout the year. Furthermore, the regulation would expand the permitted species, hunting periods, and practices, which has generated strong opposition among environmental groups.

"Less than 1% of the Madrid population cannot decide on 70% of the territory."

Dozens of groups have joined this mobilization, urging citizens to get informed and participate. The organizers emphasize the importance for citizens to be aware of the potential curtailment of their rights, threats to their safety, and the possible loss of wild fauna that, in their opinion, this new legislation entails.
