The Amigos de Monkole Foundation, based in Madrid, has launched the 'By Mother's Art' campaign to raise funds for safe childbirth and maternal-child care in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo.

This initiative, presented on April 8, aims to finance the Forfait Mamá project at Monkole Hospital, providing prenatal check-ups, assisted deliveries, and neonatal care to vulnerable women. The campaign features the participation of Spanish artists such as Coco Dávez, Matoya Martínez-Echevarría, Carmen García Huerta, Tania Cliffer, Loreto Insenarity, and María Zavala.
The main goal is to raise funds, with every 500 euros covering a complete Forfait Mamá, ensuring safe motherhood in a country with one of the highest maternal and infant mortality rates globally. Donations are channeled through the website porartedemadre.org.

"In the Democratic Republic of Congo, the maternal mortality rate reaches 427 deaths per 100,000 live births, and postpartum hemorrhages and infections account for 75 percent of these deaths."

The campaign is structured around art, with each artist creating a work inspired by motherhood in Kinshasa. Each piece is linked to a specific financial goal, and all proceeds will go directly to the health project. Additionally, a raffle of the artworks will be held among donors on Sunday, May 3, coinciding with Mother's Day. For every 50 euros donated to a specific piece, a participant gains an entry into the raffle for that artwork.

"'By Mother's Art' is not just another campaign; it's the creation of a new territory where extreme motherhood transforms into an artistic movement, a cultural conversation, a collective action."
