“"There was a lack of reference for all our lyrical repertoire. For me, it is a gift to have contributed to putting the genre in its rightful place. It is an honor to dignify and honor the great authors because I believe it is important to leave a legacy. To transmit to those who come after us our customs, our idiosyncrasies, everything they reflected in these works. In them are our folklore, our way of thinking, our way of living. This album represents a little bit of all that, our way of seeing the world."

A celebrated baritone, with an extensive career at the Teatro de La Zarzuela and on international stages, has released his first album, a project aimed at highlighting Spain's lyrical heritage.
The baritone, a prominent figure at the Teatro de La Zarzuela, where he has starred in numerous productions, has taken a significant step in his career by releasing his first album. This work, titled 'Con alma de zarzuela', comes after a consolidated trajectory in the lyrical world.
The album's production took place over three days, from November 19 to 21 last year, at the headquarters of the Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid. The team worked on recording twelve emblematic duets and romanzas from the Spanish lyrical repertoire, including pieces from works such as 'Luisa Fernanda', 'La rosa del azafrán', and 'Katiuska'. In the duets, the baritone was accompanied by a soprano with a notable heritage in the zarzuela genre.
The musical direction was led by the musical director of the Madrid theater, who conducted the ORCAM, the resident orchestra of the Teatro de La Zarzuela. This team, with a deep understanding of lyrical heritage, ensured the quality of the recording.
The baritone's repertoire includes most of the major titles continuously staged, such as 'Marina', 'La tabernera del puerto', and 'La revoltosa'. Although he is more commonly seen in major Verdi operatic roles in other world capitals, this album brings him closer to the Madrid audience in the zarzuela genre.
'Con alma de zarzuela' is the first release in a discographic collection that, according to the theater's management, will expand with the aim of preserving and disseminating the Spanish lyrical legacy.
