Under the slogan 'The day ends, the show begins', the initiative includes concerts, outdoor cinema screenings, flamenco and jazz performances, contemporary circus acts, and activities designed for the whole family. All these proposals will unfold around the Alameda de Osuna Castle, a heritage site that is part of the Madrid City Council's Museum Network and one of the few remaining vestiges of 15th-century military architecture preserved in the city.
This series, promoted by the Barajas Municipal Board, collaborates with 21 DISTRITOS, the cultural revitalization program of the Culture, Tourism and Sports Area, and the Society of Performing Artists (AIE) through its AIEnRuta program, which promotes Spanish artists in new scenic spaces.
In 2024, the Madrid City Council invested 1.6 million euros to re-naturalize and improve accessibility around the castle. This investment has transformed the area, which now hosts this cultural event.
“"Investments make sense when they are filled with life. This transformation now allows us to enjoy a new park and a great cultural series in spring."
The program for the first edition of 'The Castle Nights' will begin on Friday, May 15, with a tribute to El Canto del Loco and Dani Martín. On Saturday, May 16, the candlelit concert La lírica en el cine, by Matritum Cantat, will be presented, exploring lyrical works used as film soundtracks.
On Saturday, May 23, the day will be dedicated to families, with the interactive activity 'You conduct the orchestra' by 21 DISTRITOS, where 12 musicians from the European Youth Orchestra of Madrid (OJEM) will follow the audience's directions. Afterwards, the film Dragon Guardian will be screened.
On Friday, May 29, flamenco will take center stage with a performance by Esperanza Garrido, as part of the AIEnRUTa-Flamencos tour. The program will continue on Saturday, June 6, with the screening of the film Wonka. On Friday, June 12, 21 DISTRITOS will bring the contemporary circus and LED juggling show Light & Magic, by the Circo Diverso de Tres Cantos Association, to the Castle park. The series will conclude on Saturday, June 13, with a jazz concert by the Caminero Cuarteto, part of the AIEnRUTa-Jazz tour.
