The Governing Council of the Community of Madrid, led by Isabel Díaz Ayuso, holds a meeting today at the Santillana Residence in Manzanares El Real to address the drafting of the 2027 budgets, the visit of Pope Leo XIV, and the impact of the Iran war.

This gathering, the second of its kind in 2026, will serve as a starting point for planning next year's regional accounts, the fourth of the current legislature. The regional executive aims to promote full employment, attract international investment, and continue reducing debt and tax cuts.
During the day, Díaz Ayuso's team will review the progress of strategic initiatives such as the City of Health, the City of Justice of Madrid, and the Plan Vive. The recent financing agreement with the six public universities in Madrid will also be analyzed, along with ongoing works on the Metro de Madrid network and actions in public health and education.

The regional government will focus on the risks of excessive state regulation that could affect the competitiveness of Data Processing Centers.

Another crucial point on the agenda is the impact on regional finances due to the lack of State General Budgets since 2023. Added to this is concern about the potential risks for all autonomous communities stemming from the new regional financing model being prepared by the central Executive.
Finally, the meeting will address preparations for Pope Leo XIV's visit to the region and the details of Hispanidad 2026, an event that will feature the United States as the guest country.
