During her visit to the Vatican City, Ayuso was received in a private audience by His Holiness. The president explained that the gift was intended to be special, prepared with "care and attention," rather than a "conventional gift." The book, the result of several months of photo compilation, details how Catholic festivities are experienced in various towns within the Community of Madrid, from Puerta del Sol to Buitrago de Lozoya, including representations like the living Nativity scene in San Lorenzo de El Escorial and the "passions" in municipalities such as Daganzo and Chinchón.
Díaz Ayuso also took the opportunity to present the Pope with the International Medal of the Community of Madrid, a gesture of courtesy ahead of his upcoming apostolic journey to the region scheduled between June 6th and 9th. As an additional gift, a selection of typical Madrid products was presented, such as the "palmeritas" from Morata de Tajuña and the "Bizcotelas" from San Lorenzo de El Escorial, highlighting the quality of the region's artisanal work.
The president expressed the "absolute joy and pride" that the Pope's visit represents for Madrid, assuring that the meeting focused on faith and community aspects, without discussing political matters. She is confident that the Supreme Pontiff will convey a message of "unity" during his stay in Spain. Ayuso emphasized the region's enthusiasm to welcome him, describing Madrid as a place "full of people from all backgrounds" that knows how to "celebrate major events" and welcome visitors from all over the world.
