The President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, congratulated the Popular Party's candidate for the Andalusian regional government, Juanma Moreno, on Sunday following the results of the regional elections. The PP clearly won, although they fell two seats short of revalidating an absolute majority, thus requiring the support of Vox to govern. The PSOE, led by María Jesús Montero, recorded its worst historical result in the region.
Through a message on the social network 'X', Ayuso stated that Moreno had "crushed" the left "once again" and maintained that the election day represented an "absolute defeat" for the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez. The Madrid leader added that this result "should force him to resign".
For his part, the mayor of the capital, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, also congratulated Moreno for "overwhelming" the left. The mayor summarized on 'X' that "Andalusians support a serious and moderate project against a declining 'sanchismo', which is achieving its worst results in one of its historical strongholds".
The general secretary of the Madrid PP, Alfonso Serrano, also reacted on the same social network, understanding that "a part of Spaniards have given Sánchez another kick". He congratulated the President of the Regional Government on his "great victory that revalidates the reformist and change project initiated 8 years ago".
