The arrest followed an investigation by the Information Brigade of the National Police in Madrid and Valencia. The incident was captured on footage shared by a Brazilian television channel and circulated on social media.
In the videos, the fan, wearing an Atlético de Madrid jersey, directed derogatory remarks such as "chimpanzee" and "monkey" at the Real Madrid player, even though he was not participating in the game.
The detainee, a 27-year-old man, was identified thanks to the joint efforts of the police brigades. Police sources have confirmed the information, which was also reported by outlets like 'El Mundo'.
The individual faces charges for alleged incitement to hatred. This incident is part of a pattern of insults and threats against Vinicius Jr., which have led to previous arrests and convictions of fans.
