Arganzuela Celebrates La Melonera 2026 with Concerts and Activities

The Madrid district of Arganzuela hosts its patron saint festivities from September 3rd to 6th, featuring music, gastronomy, and sports events.

The Arganzuela district is preparing to celebrate La Melonera 2026, its patron saint festivities in honor of the Virgen del Puerto, from September 3rd to 6th.

The festivities will feature concerts near Madrid Río, children's activities, the traditional La Melonera Race, and tastings of melon and sangria at the municipal markets. The musical lineup includes notable performances by Rafa Sánchez de La Unión, La Frontera, and Sole Giménez on the stage at the Recinto Ferial of Explanada Madrid Río.
The program extends over several weeks, with intergenerational workshops for seniors and sports events. Highlights include activities such as the Intergenerational Canteen and Fan Workshops, Line Dancing classes, and workshops on the district's memories.
Music will be a central theme with the final of the Arganzuela Popular Music Awards 2026, as well as concerts by artists such as Dollar Selmouni, La Frontera, Rafa Sánchez, Montana, Crocan, Marazu, and Sole Giménez.
Younger attendees will enjoy circus shows like Máximo Óptimo Circo and children's theater productions such as Los Tres Cerditos. There will also be demonstrations by the canine unit of the Madrid Municipal Police and a Foam Party by the Madrid Fire Department.
Gastronomy will be present with free tastings of melon and sangria at the Santa María de la Cabeza and Guillermo de Osma markets. Additionally, the XXXV La Melonera Race will take place in Madrid Río, along with various sports tournaments such as volleyball and paddle tennis.
The festivities will include religious events such as the Solemn Mass in Honor of the Virgen del Puerto and a procession, as well as fireworks to conclude the event.
