The Community of Madrid has initiated the process to build 513 homes for young people in Los Ahijones (Vicálvaro), as part of the Plan Vive Solución Joven, and has confirmed the interest of 17 companies in the new Metro station.

The Minister of Housing, Transport, and Infrastructure, Jorge Rodrigo, visited the land in Los Ahijones, Vicálvaro, where the Regional Government has launched the administrative process to construct 513 homes under the Plan Vive Solución Joven. This residential complex will occupy a 31,709 square meter plot.
The development will feature 165 one-bedroom apartments and 348 two-bedroom apartments, including 21 units fully adapted for individuals with reduced mobility. The project also includes green spaces, a communal swimming pool, a children's play area, and a coworking space designed for teleworking residents under 35 years old.
Rodrigo defended the region's Shock Plan 2026/27, criticizing the Central Government's policies and stating, "The housing problem is solved by building; the rest are smoke screens and populist, interventionist measures from the Ministry that we know will not work." He also recalled that the full development of Los Ahijones will accommodate 15,000 homes and that the Community of Madrid accounts for 40% of all social housing built in Spain since 2019.
The consolidation of the new neighborhood will be accompanied by an upgrade of public transport infrastructure. The Community of Madrid is currently tendering the construction project for a new station on Line 9 of the Madrid Metro in Los Ahijones. This public tender has been relaunched after failing to attract bids in two previous calls.
In this third administrative attempt, a change in trend has been observed, with interest from 12 to 17 construction companies, which suggests no further delays in the work schedule. The new infrastructure will allow for the reorganization of the Puerta de Arganda interchange and the reversal of current private management, enabling residents from the new developments and from Rivas-Vaciamadrid to travel directly to Paco de Lucía station without transfers on the Metro network.
