The Community of Madrid will allocate 24 million euros to the modernization of the Water Treatment Plant (ETAP) in Colmenar Viejo. The works, with an execution period of 36 months, aim to improve the region's water infrastructure without affecting the supply to the more than three million citizens who depend on it.
The main technical challenge of this project is to carry out the work in the subsoil and hydraulic structures without interrupting the service. The intervention includes the complete renovation of four of the six large decanters and the deep remodeling of 54 high-capacity filters, essential elements for ensuring water purity.
This improvement plan is partially funded by the European Investment Bank. The project encompasses the rehabilitation of industrial filtration buildings, the improvement of the chemical reagents facility, and the total refurbishment of mechanical and electrical workshops, as well as staff changing rooms.
These works complement the construction of a new macro water treatment plant in Colmenar Viejo, currently in its first phase. This new complex will have a treatment capacity of up to 7,000 liters per second, strengthening the region's water capabilities.
