The San Fernando de Henares City Council has begun renovation work to convert the former Civil Protection headquarters into a new, spacious dining hall for senior citizens, which will also include recreational and educational zones.

The facilities, located on Carretera de Mejorada, will increase the current service capacity. Mayor Javier Corpa emphasized that this project addresses a citizen demand and reinforces the municipal government's commitment to improving public services.
The senior dining service was launched in October 2025 at the José Saramago Multifunctional Center. It offers healthy menus from Monday to Friday for 6.50 euros, including a starter, main course, dessert, bread, and water. Reservations are required until the previous day at 12:00 PM via phone: 617 582 626.
In addition to the dining hall expansion, senior citizens in San Fernando de Henares benefit from over 40 courses and workshops as part of the Municipal Program for Active Aging and Against Unwanted Loneliness during the 2026-2027 season. These activities include dances, open house events, tributes, talks on topics of interest, and intergenerational exchange projects.
