The Abogados de Atocha Multipurpose Center hosted the awards ceremony for the XXXVI Mari Puri Express Contest, an event that gathered 170 works and successfully incorporated the graphic design category.
The contest, which received 170 entries from various municipalities in the Community of Madrid, saw significant involvement from the youth of Torrejón de Ardoz, with 111 works submitted by local artists. This year, the competition successfully launched the graphic design category, responding to youth demand and joining traditional disciplines such as photography, poetry, short stories, mini videos, painting, sneaker customization, and miniature painting.
This initiative, aimed at channeling the artistic aspirations of younger creators, has established itself as a cultural benchmark in the city and the region. The ceremony, held on the 28th, was attended by the mayor, Alejandro Navarro Prieto, and the Councilor for Youth, Urban Planning, and Housing, Víctor Miranda.
The XXXVI Mari Puri Express Contest offered prizes of 300, 200, and 150 euros for first, second, and third place in each category. Additionally, a "Special Torrejón Artist Award" of 100 euros and a "Young Artist Award" of 50 euros were presented to encourage local and novice participation.
A jury of experts evaluated the submissions based on criteria of quality, originality, innovation, and technique, as well as aesthetic, ethical, and cultural considerations.

"With this new initiative, the contest, which is part of the local government's strong support for the city's youth, reinforces its commitment to youth participation, innovation, and talent. I encourage young people to participate in this new edition, which opens doors to new forms of communication and, more than ever, listens to and evolves with them."
