Technical teams and operators from MAS worked continuously throughout the night to replace a damaged valve. This incident follows a series of problems that have impacted the supply network, including a rupture in Yunquera de Henares and failures in an air valve in Fontanar, which necessitated cutting off both main pipelines.
“"This episode highlights the need to continue advancing in the renewal of hydraulic infrastructures, especially in the oldest pipelines."
The outage impacted a total of 44 municipalities, covering both those integrated into MAS and those supplied through other associations like La Campiña Baja and La Muela. While some regulating reservoirs managed to maintain supply for longer, other localities experienced complete cuts.
Following the successful repair, the system has begun to recover flow from the Drinking Water Treatment Plant. The opening of the pipelines is being carried out progressively and in a controlled manner to prevent new ruptures due to overpressure, which implies a gradual recovery of service. It is estimated that the supply will be fully restored within approximately three hours, although complete normalization will depend on the progressive filling of municipal reservoirs.
During the incident, MAS coordinated the delivery of bottled water to ensure supply in the most affected municipalities and essential services. The Mancomunidad has expressed its gratitude for the understanding and cooperation of the affected town councils and citizens during this exceptional situation.
