The swift action of the Torrejón de Ardoz Local Police has led to the resolution of a supposed excavator theft case. The municipal traffic video surveillance system played a crucial role, facilitating the reconstruction of the machinery's route and the identification of the vehicle transporting it.
The investigation began after several workers alerted authorities to the possible disappearance of the machinery. Given the size of the equipment, officers considered it unlikely to have left the municipality unnoticed, prompting them to request the Communications Center (CECOM) to review traffic camera footage.
The video surveillance images confirmed that the excavator had been transported on a low-loader truck. This enabled officers to identify the transport vehicle's license plate and locate the responsible company.
After requesting the relevant documentation and explanations from the company, the investigations by the Torrejón de Ardoz Police determined that the excavator's removal was not due to theft but to the non-payment of several rental contract installments. This was substantiated by documentation and collection notices issued by the leasing company.
