The initiative by the San Fernando de Henares City Council has culminated in the installation of 72 video surveillance cameras at strategic points across the municipality. Of these, 57 are ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) and environmental cameras, strategically placed at the town's entrances and exits, covering both the urban area and industrial estates. The remaining 15 cameras were initially installed near cemeteries and the Justo Gómez Salto Sports Center, with plans for expansion to other areas close to municipal buildings.
These state-of-the-art devices are equipped with Artificial Intelligence and night vision, enabling the reading and registration of license plates to identify stolen or police-interest vehicles, as well as road recording and access control. It is crucial to note that their primary objective is surveillance and prevention, not sanctioning. Captured images are self-destructed after 30 days, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and holding a 'high level' certification within the National Security Scheme.

The initial investment for this project amounts to 300,000 euros, with an additional 200,000 euros planned for 2026 for complementary actions such as lighting improvements, roundabout adjustments, and signage renewal. In parallel, the Council has strengthened the Local Police force with the incorporation of 32 new officers and 11 internal promotions since 2019, in addition to expanding the vehicle fleet with six ECO or ZERO emission vehicles, four of which are equipped with detainee kits and armored doors.
Furthermore, specialized units have been created, such as the Environmental Protection Unit and the Family and Minors Unit (UFAME), focused on assisting vulnerable groups, children, and adolescents. The Local Police also conducts educational programs in schools, which have reached over 3,000 students.
