Alcalá de Henares City Council · Official statement
This incident is not an isolated event for Grupo Layna. The company has suffered at least four fires at its facilities in the Azque Industrial Park in recent years. In July 2016, a large fire required the intervention of 20 fire brigades and a field hospital from SUMMA. Subsequently, in September 2019, more than 1000 square meters of plastic, wood, and paper burned outside the warehouse, also affecting adjacent patios.
The last precedent before the current event occurred in June 2021, when 13 units of Firefighters and forest brigades worked to extinguish a fire of recycling material stored outdoors at the same company.
