The neighborhood platform Movernos Alcalá has announced the suspension of the urgent dialogue table on urban transport, initially scheduled for Monday, April 20 in Alcalá de Henares, due to agenda conflicts of key participants.

The meeting, which aimed to address the collapse of urban transport in the city and gather citizen proposals, will not take place on the planned date. According to a statement from the platform, the decision is due to reasons beyond their control, mainly scheduling difficulties of several essential participants and invited associations, which made it unfeasible to maintain the original date.

Unfortunately, we have to inform you that due to reasons beyond Movernos Alcalá, we are forced to change the call. We will keep you informed.

The cancellation occurs amidst growing citizen discontent with the urban bus service in Alcalá de Henares. Users report insufficient frequencies, overcrowded buses, and an aging fleet that suffers constant breakdowns, including air conditioning failures, leaks, out-of-service ramps for people with reduced mobility, and mechanical problems. Neighborhoods such as Espartales, El Olivar, Las Sedas, El Ensanche, and La Garena are particularly affected by overcrowding, and several lines lack adequate night service.
Despite the suspension, the objectives of the Movernos Alcalá initiative remain intact. The platform seeks to create a dialogue space for residents, users, and associations, to develop a roadmap that includes measures such as increasing frequencies, urgent fleet renewal, improved preventive maintenance, and greater transparency in user information, including real-time schedules and incident alerts. These proposals will be presented to the Alcalá City Council, the Regional Transport Consortium of Madrid, and the concessionaire company, AlcaláBus, managed by Monbus.
The organization has asked local media to disseminate the cancellation to prevent unnecessary travel by residents. They acknowledged that the initial planning was an error and regret any inconvenience caused, assuring that they have already directly informed those registered and are working on finding a new date for the neighborhood meeting.
