A fire has broken out at a cardboard recycling plant owned by the Layna group in Alcalá de Henares, generating an intense column of smoke visible from various points across the city.

The incident occurred after 1:30 PM this Monday in the Azque industrial estate, specifically at 32 Perú Street. The smoke was so thick that it could be seen from different areas, including Torre Garena.
Several units from the Community of Madrid Fire Department quickly responded to the scene to control the blaze. Their intervention was crucial in preventing the fire from spreading to a nearby gas station, effectively containing its advance.
According to sources from 112 of the Community of Madrid, the fire originated outside the facility, and fortunately, no injuries have been reported. The flames primarily affected piles of pressed cardboard and paper located outside the plant, with no confirmed impact on the interior of the facility at this time.
