The Coslada Feminism School returns in May for its ninth edition, focusing on the impact of women creators in culture, cinema, music, theater, and literature, through free online sessions.

Under the title ‘In Their Own Name: Women in the Arts’, this initiative will take place from May 6 to 27. The program includes three virtual meetings featuring prominent figures such as Sara Ruiz Sardón, Lidia García García, and Ruth Gabriel.
Driven by the Department of Equality and Diversity of the Coslada City Council, the school aims to create a space for reflection on how words, images, and sounds have shaped and continue to shape female role models in the artistic field.
The first session will be held on May 6 at 6:00 PM, featuring Sara Ruiz Sardón, a writer, director, actress, and feminist film analyst. With a decade of experience in performing arts and cinema, since 2023 she has gained recognition for her critical analysis of female representation in fiction.
On May 20, also at 6:00 PM, it will be the turn of Lidia García García, a doctor from the University of Murcia and a popularizer specializing in copla, cuplé, and female stardom. She is the author of the books ‘¡Ay, campaneras!’ and ‘Tarantela sevillana’, and collaborates on programs such as Cine de Barrio on Televisión Española and La Ventana on Cadena SER.
The edition will conclude on May 27 at 6:00 PM with Ruth Gabriel, an actress, writer, and producer. Known for her film debut in ‘Días contados’, for which she received the Goya for Best New Actress, she also has a solid theatrical career in works such as ‘La casa de Bernarda Alba’ and ‘Fuenteovejuna’.
With this program, Coslada reaffirms its commitment to a school that not only addresses equality from a theoretical perspective but also highlights the women who have paved the way in fields where their voices were historically relegated.
