The Coslada City Council has designed a diverse program for Book Day 2026, which will span the entire month of April with cultural, participatory, and solidarity activities across various locations in the city.

The municipal departments of Culture, Children and Youth, Social Services, and Seniors have collaborated to offer a cross-cutting proposal that integrates reading, creation, and citizen participation. This initiative aims to consolidate Book Day as one of the most prominent cultural events in the local calendar.

"Book Day thus transcends the literary sphere to become a collective celebration that connects culture, well-being, and solidarity."

One of the main attractions will be the return of the Paseo de las Letras starting on April 20, which this year will be dedicated to the writer Josefina Aldecoa, commemorating the centenary of her birth. This urban route will connect the Antonio López cultural center with the Luisa Carnés Library, bringing her legacy closer to citizens.
The Luisa Carnés Library will be a central hub for the celebration, hosting two innovative proposals. From April 13 to 30, “From Book to Screen” will be presented, exploring the relationship between literature and cinema. Additionally, from April 23 to 29, a children's and youth book exhibition will be held, including storytelling on April 28.
Activities will also extend outdoors, with events at the Therapeutic Garden of the Senses on April 25, featuring poetry in nature. Furthermore, every Wednesday, a participatory activity for creating garden-related stories will take place. Both require prior registration and have limited capacity.
The program also includes a solidarity initiative titled “A Bright Unicorn,” promoted by local organizations. The proceeds from this activity, held on April 24, 25, and 26 at the Margarita Nelken Cultural Center, will go to support Aitana and her father Fran, covering physiotherapy treatments and orthopedic material. To encourage participation, book collection points have been set up in various establishments in Coslada from April 6 to 19. The AMPAS (Parent-Teacher Associations) and schools in the city will also join the celebration with their own events.
