The City Council of Alcalá de Henares, through the Department of Public Works and Urban Maintenance, continues with its Urban Maintenance Plan, which includes actions to improve the condition of the road surface on various streets in the city. The plan has a total budget of 550,000 euros.
Following interventions in streets such as Dámaso Alonso, Alalpardo, Carmen Descalzo, and Paseo de Pastrana, the work now focuses on Santiago street. Potholes and paving are being repaired in the most deteriorated sections, affected by constant vehicle traffic.
The execution of these works has been scheduled for the summer period to minimize disruptions to daily mobility, taking advantage of lower traffic intensity and the absence of academic activities. The works will continue over the next few days, and possible traffic closures will be signposted.

Councilor Antonio Saldaña emphasized that the plan prioritizes streets with the greatest wear and traffic volume to improve road safety for both drivers and pedestrians.
On July 22, 23, and 24, Santiago street will be closed to traffic between 07:00 and 15:00 hours, in the section between Diego de Torres street and Tinte street. Outside these hours, a provisional diversion will be established.
The Local Police recommend planning travel in advance, using alternative routes, and respecting the provisional signage installed in the area.
