The CCOO Henares union has voiced its concern over the increase in workplace accidents in the Henares Corridor, following two serious falls from height with severe consequences in Alcalá de Henares and Torrejón de Ardoz in recent weeks.

The union reported that one of the incidents resulted in the death of a worker in Torrejón de Ardoz, while the second left another employee seriously injured in Alcalá de Henares, where they remain under medical observation.
CCOO reminds that they had already warned about this situation on April 28, coinciding with World Day for Safety and Health at Work. The union maintains that the Community of Madrid is experiencing a surge in workplace accidents, a trend also affecting the Henares Corridor.
According to data provided by the organization, during 2025, a total of 86 workers lost their lives in the region due to workplace accidents or accidents on the way to work. Furthermore, in the first quarter of 2026, 22 worker fatalities have already been recorded due to workplace accidents.

"On average, in the Community of Madrid, one worker dies every four days in a workplace accident, and a serious accident is registered daily."

In response to these figures, which CCOO Henares considers «unacceptable», the union has announced a mobilization to denounce the situation and demand better planning of preventive activities. Among their demands are more prevention measures, increased resources for occupational health surveillance, more training, and additional resources for the Labor Inspectorate.
