The program, running from July 2nd to September 27th, offers 1,750 free spots for families and schools. Activities take place Tuesday to Sunday mornings, excluding August.
Participants, guided by experts, learn all phases of archaeological work. This includes visiting the site, excavating in a simulated real dig, documenting and classifying findings, and performing laboratory and restoration tasks. The aim is to showcase archaeology as a scientific discipline for interpreting and preserving heritage.
Part of the sessions at Complutum is integrated this year into the municipal program «Abierto para Jugar», allowing children an immersion into the city's archaeological heritage.
“"The program's evaluation remains very positive. The high demand for spots and the high satisfaction rate confirm the growing interest in activities that combine leisure, learning, and heritage."
Vicente Pérez, Councilor for Historical Heritage, highlighted that the initiative sparks scientific vocations and fosters respect for cultural heritage. Through these participatory experiences, Complutum solidifies its role as a key space for heritage education in the Community of Madrid.
