The project, part of the ‘Alcalá improves its neighborhoods’ Plan, aims to renew a public space that shows significant deterioration due to time and tree root growth. These issues have caused damage to sidewalks and the road surface, hindering pedestrian traffic and affecting safety.
The Councilor for Public Works and Urban Maintenance, Antonio Saldaña, explained that the action responds to a neighborhood demand to eliminate accessibility problems and renovate an area that required comprehensive intervention.
The works include the complete renewal of the road pavement, repair of areas affected by tree roots, and improvement of both sidewalks. On the left bank, the pedestrian path will be completely rebuilt, while on the right bank, pedestrian crossings and routes will be adapted to ensure full accessibility.
Accessibility elements for people with reduced mobility and visual impairments will also be installed, and manhole covers and drains will be integrated into the new pavements.
