The Local Government Board of the Alcalá de Henares City Council has given the green light to the comprehensive urban redevelopment and repair project for Cáceres Street. This initiative is part of the ‘Alcalá mejora sus barrios’ plan and aims to renew the roadway, sidewalks, urban services, and accessibility elements in this important residential area in the eastern part of the city.
Before the start of the works, municipal representatives and the awarded company met with local residents. This meeting explained the scope of the project and detailed the execution phases, seeking to minimize disruptions and ensure coexistence with the daily routine of the neighborhood. The works will be carried out in sections to facilitate this process.
“"This action responds to the local Government team's commitment to improving neighborhoods and renovating streets that require a complete update of their urban infrastructures."
The base budget for this intervention amounts to 603,426.18 euros, with an estimated execution period of four months. This action is part of a broader contract for the improvement of public spaces in various areas of Alcalá de Henares, which includes a total of nine interventions in different city neighborhoods.
The intervention will cover the entire Cáceres Street, including the roadway, side sidewalks, intersections, pedestrian crossings, and other complementary elements. Currently, the area features aged sidewalks, heterogeneous pavements, cracked pieces, and a roadway with cracks and deteriorated surface, necessitating a comprehensive renovation to improve safety, accessibility, and the urban image of the surroundings.
Planned improvements include pavement renovation, optimization of accessibility conditions, adjustment of manhole covers, replacement of urban furniture, public lighting, and signage. Additionally, the water supply network will be renewed by installing a new ductile iron pipe of 150 millimeters in diameter. The undergrounding of an existing telephone line through an underground conduit is also planned.
