Mayor Judith Piquet positively assessed the initiative following its official presentation, calling it "very good news for Alcalá de Henares" and thanking the regional government for its commitment to the city.
Piquet emphasized Alcalá's ambition to complement its historical and cultural legacy as a World Heritage City with a growing industrial and technological presence. The mayor advocated for preserving the city's identity while promoting "a model of quality industry."
The industrial tradition of Alcalá, particularly in the pharmaceutical and logistics sectors, was recalled, along with the municipal government's goal to fully integrate the city into the technological transformation led by the Community of Madrid.
The mayor also highlighted the City Council's efforts over the past three years to attract new investments and support technology companies interested in establishing themselves in the city, with a special focus on the Science and Technology Park.
Piquet underscored the importance of collaboration between public administrations, companies, and academic entities, emphasizing the crucial role of the University of Alcalá in local technological and economic development.
Finally, the mayor expressed the municipal government's support for the implementation of the Sovereign AI Cloud, highlighting the job creation and economic revitalization opportunities it represents for Alcalá de Henares.
