The Alcalá de Henares City Council, together with Ecovidrio, has launched an awareness campaign to improve glass container recycling in the municipality, with an initial focus on the hospitality sector.

The campaign aims to promote the correct management of glass waste, under the slogan that "every gesture counts" towards a more sustainable city. The Councilor for Environment and Cleaning, Vicente Pérez, highlighted that the initiative will be carried out in two phases.
The first phase, starting in June, will specifically target the hospitality sector, identified as a major generator of glass waste. Specialized teams will visit establishments to offer personalized advice and improve the separation of these materials.
Emphasis will be placed on the importance of not depositing glass in bags, but directly into specific bins for transfer to the green container. The goal is to optimize collection and increase recycling efficiency in bars and restaurants.
From September onwards, the campaign will extend to the entire citizenry. This second stage will focus on informing and raising awareness among residents about the importance of recycling glass at home, aiming to identify habits, resolve doubts, and reinforce collective commitment to the environment.
