Alcalá de Henares has held a session of the Municipal Children's Council, where young council members presented their proposals to the City Council for city improvements, receiving the mayor's commitment.

The assembly hall of the Municipal District II Board in Alcalá de Henares hosted a new session of the Municipal Children's Council. This participatory body allows children and adolescents to convey their concerns, proposals, and projects to the City Council for the city's development.
The meeting was attended by the mayor, Judith Piquet, and the Councilor for Family, Childhood, and Youth, Pilar Cruz. Representatives from the Children and Adolescent Participation Commissions, along with young people from social entities such as CAJE, Cruz Roja (Red Cross), and Espiral, presented initiatives developed during the course concerning daily life in Alcalá.
The young council members used the session to directly present their demands and raise issues regarding their environment, public spaces, and the daily needs they identify. This participatory exercise turns minors into direct interlocutors for the local administration.
Judith Piquet thanked the young people for their work, highlighting the value of their contributions in identifying situations overlooked by municipal officials and finding solutions to specific problems. The mayor pledged to study the proposals and manage the responses to the demands presented.
The mayor encouraged participants to maintain qualities such as imagination, joy, and generosity, defining them as essential for creating more humane cities. For her part, Pilar Cruz emphasized the importance of the Council as a tool to hear the voice of minors and foster their involvement in public affairs, stressing the formation of committed citizens.
The Municipal Children's Council serves as a consultative and advisory body for the City Council on matters related to the protection, care, promotion, and participation of minors, helping Alcalá de Henares maintain its recognition as a Child-Friendly City, in line with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
