Alcalá de Henares becomes the epicenter of European gastronomy with the third edition of the European Tapas Week, a culinary route featuring tapas inspired by the 27 countries of the European Union until May 16.

The city of Alcalá de Henares is hosting the third edition of the European Tapas Week, a gastronomic proposal that celebrates the culinary diversity of the continent. This initiative, promoted by the Community of Madrid, the Alcalá de Henares City Council, the Alcalá Gastronómica-Fomentur association, and Alcalá Desarrollo, commemorates Europe Day, celebrated on May 9.
For eight days, until May 16, a total of 26 restaurants belonging to Alcalá Gastronómica will offer original and creative dishes. These tapas are inspired by the culinary traditions of the 27 member states of the European Union, allowing diners to embark on a journey of flavors without leaving the city.

"The EU is not just a political or economic project; it is also a cultural and coexistence space shared by 450 million citizens from 27 countries."

Miguel Ángel García Martín · Minister of Presidency, Justice and Local Administration
The official presentation of the event took place at the Hostería del Estudiante, with the presence of the mayor of Alcalá de Henares, Judith Piquet, and the general director of Territorial Rebalancing of the Community of Madrid, Javier Carazo, among other authorities. The Minister of Presidency, Justice and Local Administration, Miguel Ángel García Martín, also participated, highlighting the cultural and coexistence value of the European Union.
Among the culinary offerings, attendees can taste everything from traditional torreznos con patatas revolconas, representing Spain, to reinterpretations of iconic dishes such as Greek souvlaki, Swedish Köttbullar meatballs, Bulgarian Shkembe chorba soup, or Slovenian Zlikrofi. This diversity offers a unique experience that merges gastronomy, culture, and tourism.
