The Department of Environment of the Alcalá de Henares City Council is organizing the 22nd Environment Week, from June 1st to 7th, with a program of free activities under the #NowForClimate slogan.

Alcalá de Henares is preparing to celebrate the 22nd edition of Environment Week, an annual event aimed at promoting sustainability and environmental care among citizens. From June 1st to 7th, the city will host various educational, awareness-raising, and participatory activities designed for all audiences.
This initiative coincides with the commemoration of World Environment Day, celebrated on June 5th, and this year adopts the international slogan #NowForClimate, emphasizing the urgency of climate action at the local level.
Throughout the week, environmental education activities will be offered to the municipality's educational centers, adapted to different age groups and focused on environmental knowledge and conservation. Advance registration will be required for these sessions.
Among the highlighted events is the course “Learn to Ride a Bike”, which will take place from June 1st to 5th at the Casita del O’Donnell. This activity is designed for children who wish to learn cycling, requiring participants to bring their own bicycle, without training wheels, and a helmet.
On Friday, June 5th, coinciding with World Environment Day, the Casita del O’Donnell will host the Environment Festival (6:00 PM - 8:00 PM), featuring participatory activities for the whole family. At 7:00 PM, the cycling course diplomas will be awarded, and attendees will receive a gift.
On Saturday, June 6th, the program includes the “Stork Route”, an activity to learn about the environmental value of this species in Alcalá de Henares. Two sessions will be offered (9:30 AM and 11:30 AM) departing from Plaza de San Lucas.
On the same day, at 5:30 PM, the Casita del O’Donnell will host a new edition of the “Actions for the Environment: Barter Day”, an initiative open to all audiences to promote the reuse of items and the circular economy through the exchange of books, toys, clothing, or sports equipment in good condition.
Environment Week will conclude on Sunday, June 7th, with the “Parks Route”, a guided tour of parks, green spaces, and tree-lined streets in the northern part of the city. The tour will start at 10:00 AM from the Renfe La Garena station.
All activities are free of charge, although some require prior registration through the municipal website.
