The President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, attended the performance of the Passion Play of Daganzo de Arriba, where she emphasized that faith and traditions are enduring elements, not mere fleeting trends.

During her visit to this Festival of Regional Tourist Interest, which this year commemorates its 40th anniversary, the regional leader underscored the relevance of the representation as a manifestation of faith and culture. She stated that these traditions are fundamental to understanding our identity and origins, shaping an essential part of our thought.

"Faith and traditions are not a fad or the past; they are here to stay. This is what we are and where we come from, and it has shaped part of our thoughts."

The event, continuously held since 1986, is distinguished by its innovative circular arrangement of scenes in the Plaza de la Villa de Daganzo. This format allows spectators to immerse themselves in the last three days of Jesus Christ's life without needing to move between stations, offering an immersive and continuous experience.
The Passion Play of Daganzo, recognized as a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest, is a theatrical work notable for the active participation of its residents. From children to adults, the community unites to recreate the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Considered the oldest Passion Play in the region after that of Villarejo de Salvanés, it involves the direct participation of residents, who are responsible for creating sets and costumes, as well as acting in the dramatization that spans from the entry into Jerusalem to the Resurrection.
This celebration is one of nine festivities declared of tourist interest during Holy Week in the Community of Madrid, highlighted for their deep-rooted tradition, uniqueness, and cultural appeal, according to a statement issued by the regional Executive.
