The Department for the Elderly in Alcalá de Henares has unveiled a new program of activities, workshops, and socio-cultural animation for municipal senior centers during April, May, and June, aiming to promote active aging and social participation.

Esther de Andrés, Councilor for the Elderly, emphasized that this initiative reinforces the municipality's commitment to the well-being of older people. The program incorporates new institutional collaborations, such as with the Alcalá Fire Department, and strengthens existing ones, like with the Royal Botanical Garden, while also promoting local culture and talent.

Among the most significant novelties is the participation of the Alcalá de Henares Fire Department, which will offer informative sessions on fire prevention at various senior centers. A visit to the Fire Station will also be organized, familiarizing users with this essential service and fostering a culture of prevention.
Collaboration with the Royal Botanical Garden of Alcalá de Henares continues, offering activities such as the guided tour “Trees of the Gardens of Alcalá,” which aims to promote knowledge of the natural environment and green heritage of the city.
The program also highlights local talent, including shows and cultural activities featuring artists from Alcalá. These musical performances, theatrical representations, and exhibitions will take place both in senior centers and other cultural venues across the city.
The diverse offerings include cultural visits, conferences, socio-community activities, environmental routes, and training workshops. Excursions to places like Nuevo Baztán, la Vera, or the Sierra de Ayllón have been scheduled, along with health, memory, and emotional well-being workshops. Intergenerational activities with educational centers and routes through natural spaces in the municipality will also be held. Annual workshops and activities led by senior volunteers, fundamental pillars of participation, continue to be part of the program. All activities are free and require prior registration at each center, being aimed at members of the municipal senior centers.
