The Pinto City Council has expressed its deep dissatisfaction with the Central Government's decision to fund a shelter for unaccompanied migrant minors in the municipality, citing a lack of communication and involvement in the process.
According to a statement issued by the Council, the project, managed by a private entity in a private residence, would receive funding from the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration. The City Council claims to have learned about the situation through local residents.
Municipal authorities emphasize that they have not participated in the evaluation of available resources nor have they been able to assess the potential impact on public services, coexistence, or security in the municipality. Currently, municipal technicians are analyzing the compatibility of this activity with current regulations, following initial communications from residents.
The Pinto City Council is the first to be surprised by this decision. We will continue to defend the interests of the residents above all else.
For its part, Más Madrid Pinto has strongly criticized the City Council's statement, calling it an "absolute repudiation" and noting that it does not represent the entire corporation. The 'green' party argues that a municipality's security is strengthened by protecting the most vulnerable, not by singling them out, and warns that stigmatizing minors based on their origin "breaks social peace".
A municipal government that singles out a part of its residents is actively creating a focus of conflict and distrust, which is the opposite of guaranteeing security.
Elena Ancos, councilor for Más Madrid Pinto, emphasized that security in Pinto is built with resources for mediation, education, and social services, not with statements that fuel prejudice. She also denounced the "continuous partisan use of official channels" by the City Council, referring to a complaint filed with the Ombudsman.

"From Más Madrid Pinto, we demand that the Government team of the Popular Party and Pinto Avanza rectify and immediately withdraw any institutional communication on behalf of the entire corporation that promotes stigmatization and instead focus on integration and protection policies."
