The Leganés City Council has organized the XVII Health Week, an event taking place from April 10 to 18 with over 60 activities, including informational sessions, sports practices, yoga, and mindfulness workshops.

Under the slogan «Caring Associations, Healing Communities», the initiative aims to highlight the fundamental role of Leganés' associative fabric. According to a statement from the Council, this work reflects the citizens' commitment to building a healthier, more participatory, and supportive environment.
The institutional act will be held on April 14 at 6:00 PM in the Town Hall. It will feature the participation of the mayor, Miguel Ángel Recuenco, the Health Councilor, Virginia Benito, representatives from the Leganés City Council Health Sectoral Council, and the «Leganés for Emotional Balance» project. The Manuel Rodríguez Sales Municipal School of Music will close the event with a performance.
One of the main activities, «Health in the Square», will take place on Sunday, April 12, in the Plaza del Milenio, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This space will host informational booths and various activities organized by associations from the Health Sectoral Council, municipal delegations, and other local and regional entities.
Among the proposals for «Health in the Square» are the presentation of the «Emotional Balance» project (with emotional mapping and an emotional first aid kit), popular games led by the Elderly Delegation, plant distribution by the Environment and Sustainability Delegation, workshops (face painting, amulets…), music, Zumba, radio, and the «Three Health Stations» by the non-profit association «Pepinito de Leganés». There will also be a performance by the Manuel Rodríguez Sales Municipal School of Music.

"This Health Week aims once again to be a recognition of the fundamental role of the associative fabric in the well-being of our city."

Virginia Benito · Health Councilor of Leganés
Councilor Virginia Benito emphasized that the nearly 60 activities are aimed at all audiences, addressing health comprehensively through workshops, talks, sports, music, outdoor activities, and prevention and awareness actions. The program's preparation involved the collaboration of eight municipal council departments, thirteen associations, and eleven institutions, highlighting the network collaboration that characterizes this initiative.
The Leganés City Council launched the «Leganés for Emotional Balance» program in 2024, in collaboration with associations and institutions, to inform, raise awareness, and promote actions to improve the mental health of residents. This year's slogan, «Caring Associations, Healing Communities», seeks to recognize and highlight the work of the associative fabric in caring for and promoting community health.
