The Tres Cantos City Council, through its Department of Culture, is promoting this festival to recognize cinematic creativity and provide a platform for emerging talents. The initiative has solidified the municipality's position as a reference in the audiovisual sector, attracting productions from local, national, and international spheres.
Out of 430 submitted works, a total of 32 short films have been selected for exhibition. Screenings are free and will take place at two key venues: the Odeón Cinemas at Ciudad de Tres Cantos Shopping Center, with sessions from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and the Municipal Theater of the Adolfo Suárez Cultural Center, on April 10th and 11th starting at 5:00 PM. The audience will have the opportunity to vote for the Special Audience Award.
The festival will distribute over 11,000 euros in prizes, covering categories such as best short film, direction, screenplay, male and female acting, soundtrack, and local production. The Community of Madrid collaborates by awarding one of the works, which will be screened at the Madrid Short Film Week. Additionally, entities like Netflix, The Core School, Fundación Secuoya, MasterPhoto, CortoEspaña, and Movistar+ will grant special recognitions related to areas such as animation, photography, or social values.
The Tres Cantos short film festival is an essential platform for creativity and emerging talent, solidifying our commitment to culture and the audiovisual sector.
The central event will be the ‘Tres Cantos de Cine’ gala, held on April 18th at the Municipal Theater of the Adolfo Suárez Cultural Center. During this ceremony, open to the public until full capacity is reached, awards will be presented to the winning short films. The gala will also include a tribute to the renowned actress Gemma Cuervo. Her daughter, Cayetana Guillén Cuervo, will chair the jury responsible for selecting the awardees.
The parallel cultural program, running throughout April, includes activities for all ages. Highlights include the children's festival Pequecinema (from April 13th to 16th), a family session on April 19th at the Municipal Auditorium, workshops such as ‘The Camera and Emotions’ and ‘Stop Motion’ at Factoría Cultural, a soundtrack concert, and the ‘Three Days of Cinema’ workshop taught by professionals. The book Las Delicias del Jardín by director Fernando Colomo will also be presented on April 28th at the Lope de Vega Municipal Library.
Complementing these activities, the exhibition ‘Hollywood Treasures’ will be on display from April 10th to June 14th in the Baluarte Room of the Adolfo Suárez Cultural Center, featuring over 50 iconic film objects. Additionally, the Municipal Library will host a Cinematographic Interest Center with specialized materials throughout the month.
