The 3rd Senior Citizens' Week in Móstoles concluded with an event on healthy longevity, highlighting the importance of physical activity and featuring former basketball player Fernando Romay.

The Móstoles City Council, through the Department of Contracting, Seniors, and Social Welfare, organized the 3rd Senior Citizens' Week, which took place from September 28 to October 2. The main objective was to promote active aging, the physical and emotional well-being of seniors, combat unwanted loneliness, and foster social and intergenerational relationships.
The program included a workshop on Unwanted Loneliness on Monday, September 28, at the Villa de Móstoles Cultural Center, focusing on strengthening social bonds and experience exchange. The following day, Tuesday, September 29, the intergenerational workshop "Activa-mente" was held at the same center, where 25 students from IES Manuela Malasaña and 25 members of the Municipal Senior Centers shared activities such as interactive games and podcast creation.
The central event of the week took place on Wednesday, September 30, coinciding with the International Day of Older Persons, at the Villa de Móstoles Theater. During this event, awards for the II "My Best Recipe" Contest were presented, and a tribute was paid to the centenarian residents of the municipality, enlivened by a musical performance by the Banda La Estrella. The event was attended by the mayor of Móstoles, Manuel Bautista, and councilwoman Raquel Guerrero.
On Thursday, October 1, seniors participated in the "Creative Memory in Motion" workshop at the Villa de Móstoles Cultural Center, aimed at improving emotional well-being and exercising memory through participants' autobiographical experiences. Additionally, a cultural outing to Pedraza was enjoyed.
The week concluded on Friday, October 2, with the event "The Power of Physical Activity," focused on healthy longevity. Organized in collaboration with 65yMás and the departments of Sports and Health, it featured the participation of former basketball player Fernando Romay and took place at the Centro Cultural Norte-Universidad.
The Móstoles City Council reaffirms its commitment to promoting initiatives that enhance the well-being and quality of life of senior citizens, strengthening their social relationships, and recognizing their role in society by creating spaces for meeting, participation, and coexistence to maintain an active life.
