The Móstoles City Council has celebrated the 34th anniversary of the Civil Protection Volunteers Group, recognizing its public service vocation and dedication to others. The institutional event, held last Saturday at the North-University District Board building, highlighted the incorporation of new volunteers, doubling the number of members to a total of 90.
The commemoration, which took place at the North-University District Board building, served to honor the group since its creation on April 24, 1992. During the event, a review of units and vehicles and the raising of flags were carried out outdoors, followed by speeches from authorities and the presentation of awards to volunteers and collaborating entities.
The event was attended by various personalities, including the mayor of Móstoles, Manuel Bautista; the first deputy mayor and councilor for Security, Emergencies, and Environment, Gabriel Monteserín; the deputy of the Assembly of Madrid, Paul Rubio; the Head of Emergencies and Civil Protection, Raúl Esteban Canal; the Commissioner, head of the Mediation and Citizen Security Area of the Municipal Police, Juan Herrera; and the Deputy Inspector of the Municipal Police, Fernando Sotomayor. Also present were members of the Civil Guard, Madrid Community Firefighters, awarded volunteers, groups from other municipalities, and representatives from entities such as the Red Cross, the Federation of Peñas, and local peñas.
In the last year, the Group has carried out 3,000 interventions and has added new members, more than double the previous year, bringing the total to 90 volunteers. Furthermore, the vehicle fleet has been expanded, now comprising a total of nine vehicles after the incorporation of three more units to the existing six in late 2024 and 2025.
